Our sister site, TVGuide.com has an extensive list of Fall TV Preview content, but admittedly, a lot of it won't be making it to the ol' DVR. Today, "Divie" the DVR whispered her five shows that she can't wait to start recording again. That's right, our DVR talks. If you watched as much TV as we do at TVGuide.com and JTS, your DVR might speak to you as well. This is what Divie had to say about her favorite shows:

1) Californication (Showtime, Sept. 28, 10 pm/ET) – Say what you will about recent… er… events in star David Duchovny's personal life that mirror his sex-obsessed character Hank Moody, but this was one of the best freshman shows to air in a long time. It also ended with a very untraditional cliffhanger: Not a "will they or won't they" scenario, but a, "holy crap, Karen just ditched her new husband and ran off with bad boy Hank on her wedding night" cliffhanger. How the heck will that work? Can't wait to find out!

2) Dexter (Showtime, Sept. 28, 9 pm/ET) – There is no reason on Earth that this show should be so completely addictive empirically. It's pretty gruesome and graphic. It's about a serial killer who kills other very bad people. You shouldn't want to root for him, but you just can't help it. Dexter is the most likable anti-hero around, and after his psycho ex blew up his nemesis, what will be next for the "killer" murderer to overcome?

3) Pushing Daisies (Wed., Oct. 1, 8 pm/ET) – This show is pure magic. The world that Bryan Fuller created entrances and delights with bold colors, cartoon like sets and costumes and best of all, the irresistible star-crossed loves, Chuck and Ned. Apparently, this season Olive and one of the crazy aunts ends up in a nunnery. The habits are more Tiffany blue instead of black – Ha! Also, Digby the adorable Golden Retriever will meet Pigby, the potbellied pig. Will they be friends, or enemies? Either way, hopefully, freshly-baked pie will be waiting as the premiere begins. Hint, hint.

4) 30 Rock (NBC, Oct. 30, 9:30 pm/ET) – With The Office getting on in years, 30 Rock remains as one of the few fresh, witty and original comedies left on NBC... or anywhere for that matter. Liz Lemon, although she has really crappy luck with men, is surrounded by high-maintenance slackers and basically has no life, she's still one of the most relatable and likable characters on TV. Long live Liz Lemon!

5) Life (NBC, Sept. 29, 10 pm/ET) – This show just didn't get enough time to catch people's interest last year. Thank goodness NBC saw its potential and picked it up for another season. Damian Lewis plays a Charlie, a detective who was wrongly accused of murder, sentenced to life in prison and was freed years later based on DNA evidence. Cops still don't trust him, his best friend is a white collar felon and his partner is an alcoholic with a sketchy-ass father who may is involved in Charlie's framing. It's quirky, interesting and not a typical procedural. Bring it on.

Of course, there are many other shows that will make it onto Divie's list: Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, Friday Night Lights and so on. Tomorrow, we'll tell you about the new shows Divie's planning on adding to her list.
Director Chris Carter Rewards Staffer's First Novel with Film Cameo

Say your boss, director Chris Carter decides to give your first novel, your baby, a cameo inThe X-Files: I Want to Believe. What happens then? Tears? Gratitude? A slight bladder control issue? Nah! For Gabe Rotter, he felt nothing but thrilled and honored that his first novel, Duck Duck Wally, was given a moment to shine on the silver screen. Jump the Shark wanted to meet the guy who had time to work 18-hour days and write a novel at the same time. Gabe was kind enough not only to discuss Duck Duck Wally – which is about a dorky Jewish guy who happens to get in a lot of trouble after becoming a ghostwriter for the biggest rap star in the world – but also to chat about working as Director of Development for Chris Carter’s 1013 Productions, his respect for avid X-Files fans, and what's next for this up-and-coming star. Jump the Shark: How long have you worked for Chris Carter? Gabe Rotter: I've worked for Chris for eight years. I went to work for him right out of college. I was a production assistant on The X-Files... I came on at the very end of Season 7 in the summer before Season 8. Jump the Shark: How was it being a p.a. on that show? Rotter: It was great – it was a great first experience. I was lucky, Chris is a great guy to work for – Chris and Frank (Spotnitz) really value hard work and I worked my ass off. I did everything as quickly and efficiently as possible and tried to show them that I wanted to be there... and it paid off. Then I became the writers' assistant on Season 9 of the show— Jump the Shark: Was working with Frank Spotnitz in the writers' room awesome? Rotter: He's an effin' genius... he's a remarkable person and to know him is to love him. And, for someone who hasn't been around him in a work capacity, they probably wouldn't realize how absolutely brilliant the man is.... And, he's the nicest guy in the world to boot. Jump the Shark: What are your aspirations at 1013? Producing? Directing? Rotter: I want to produce, and eventually I want to have my own show... create my own show. Jump the Shark: Let's talk about the book that you wrote: Duck Duck Wally. Where did the inspiration for Wally Moscowitz (the protagonist) come from? Rotter: It's embarrassing to say but the idea for a rap ghostwriter came from a lyric from a Diddy song (laughs) – you know, I like the hardcore gangster sh*t. He had a line in one of his songs a few years ago that said, "Don't worry, if I write rhymes, I write checks." And it got me thinking, "OK, who's writing these guys' rhymes, and wouldn't it be funny if it was, like, me? And, Wally Moscowitz came from that idea. Jump the Shark: How did you publicize the book (before its cameo)? Rotter: We had to get creative... we planted a rumor that the book was true, that I was a ghostwriter for rap and Gawker picked that up, and came to the book release party. We put fake missing dog posters all around L.A. with a million-dollar reward. It said, "My name is Wally Moscowitz and I've lost my dog, Dr. Schwartzman, and if you find him, please call me at..." and it was a Simon & Schuster number. You could leave a message if you wanted to win a copy of the book – which was really cool, because we got a lot of messages. Jump the Shark: Duck Duck Wally: had a little cameo in The X-Files: I Want to Believe. It was featured on a table at Mulder and Scully's house and there was huge buzz about it on the fan sites. Did that help you sell a lot of books? Rotter: I think so, but it's hard to track that. But I have also gotten a lot of Facebook and MySpace friend requests from X-Files fans. Jump the Shark: What did you think about the new X-Files movie? Rotter: I think it's a really smart, deep movie. It's different than anything that's being made right now. Jump the Shark: Did you give the book to Chris to read? What did he think? Rotter: Yeah, I gave it to Chris and told him to read it at his leisure. He said he liked it. Jump the Shark: Were you honored to have the book in The X-Files?: Rotter: Yes! I was so excited about that; I couldn’t even believe it for a while. Jump the Shark: Tell me about being a credited producer on Chris' new hush-hush movie, Fencewalker. How involved were you in the entire process? Rotter: I was involved in the process from day one, and on the set everyday. Basically, myself and another producer prepped the movie while Chris was up shooting X-Files. And [Carter] kinda jumped into this right when he got back. I can't talk about it more than that (laughs). Jump the Shark: Is there anything you're working on at 1013 that you can tell me about? Rotter: We're working on developing several interesting projects right now... [and no] I can't talk about any of them. Jump the Shark: [Curse you and your g-man-like secrecy!] Thank you so much for chatting with us today. Rotter: Thank you! Jon Hein Special Report: Dancing with the Sharks

When my inbox is flooded in a matter of seconds, one of these three things has happened.

1. A cult series has been renewed or cancelled.

2. A major character on a popular show has been killed off.

3. Ted McGinley has been cast once again.

After seeing this fall's Dancing with the Stars lineup, I have number three to thank for all that e-mail.

Let's start by saying that you must respect Ted. In spite of his track record as the patron saint of shark jumping, he continues to get acting gigs and thank god for that.

The Dancing with the Stars folks are fully aware of Ted's checkered past, so why take a chance on the guy? It's simple: ABC has gotten a bit cocky, but with good reason.

This is the show that has made ballroom dancing with quasi-celebrities popular, and we're talking "take a chunk out of American Idol ratings" popular. Tom Bergeron is the consummate host who laughs with us, not at us. Second careers and sold-out dancing tours are a sure thing for contestants who click with the audience.

And Dancing with the Stars has been carefully preparing for Ted. Trista Rehn? First one eliminated. Tatum O'Neal and George Hamilton? Ratings go up. Jerry Springer and champion Emmitt Smith? No problem. Heather Mills? Handled better than Sir Paul. Marie Osmond? Relaunched her career. Marlee Matlin? The hearing-impaired actress outdid Steve Guttenberg. There hasn't been a casting challenge that Bruno, Len and Carrie Anne haven't been able to handle.

Dancing with the Stars thrives on a controversial cast of characters, but this past season the ratings began to drop. This fall's lineup is already taking chances with Kim Kardashian, Jeffrey Ross and Susan Lucci. But the gutsy move is inviting Ted on to the dance floor with Inna Brayer.

Ted will be charming. He'll be able to dance. His smile will shine. And it all won't matter.

Good luck, Ted. It's always great to see you. The shark anxiously awaits.
